COSTLY MISTAKES: Waiting Too Long to Appeal

Secure Disability Law

If you have already applied for Social Security Disability Benefits and you have been denied, you most likely have a letter notifying you of your denial. Towards the end of that letter, there is a paragraph telling you of the rights you have to appeal your case. You have 60 days from the date of the letter to appeal your denial.

If you fail to file an appeal or fail to file an appeal on time, you may have to start the application process all over again. This not only may result in a loss of retroactive pay, but means that you will have to go back to the beginning of the waiting list. You should appeal as soon as possible or consult with an attorney to help you appeal your denial. Our office is always here to help!
